Louis Carroll 'Louie' Pratt passed away Sept. 2 at the age of 95. He was born Dec. 30, 1916, in Hornbrook, Calif. to Carroll Louis Pratt and Florence Louise (Trefren) Pratt.
He graduated high school in Ashland. After graduation, he married Islay M. Sewell. Although the marriage ended in divorce, they were blessed with three children. On June 5, 1955, Louie married Margaret Helen Ware, bringing more children to the family. Louie retired from his job as a switchman on the Southern Pacific Railroad at age 60, enjoying a long retirement of fishing, hunting, camping and crabbing.
He was especially proud of his 59-year friendship with Bill W. and his years of membership in the First Church of God, serving as treasurer and elder until just a few years before his death.
For the past several years his granddaughter, Rhonda Walker, has been his loving caregiver. Louie's sense of humor, ethics, caring and giving are the legacy he is leaving behind.
Surviving Louie are his children and spouses Jim and Connie Pratt, Klamath Falls; Jean and Dick Hamilton, Redmond, Ore.; Lorna and Lewis White, Lebanon, Ore.; Beverly Steele, Albany, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren, and his special friend Audrey Williams. Preceding him in death were his wife, Margaret, and sons John Raymond Pratt and Gerald Wayne Wear.
A memorial service for Louie will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10 at the First Church of God, 2802 Altamont Drive, Klamath Falls, Ore., followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests you consider a donation in Louie's memory either to the First Church of God, or the Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank, 3231 Maywood Dr., Klamath Falls, OR 97603.
